About OsoyoosThe Town of Osoyoos (pronounced o-sue-use) is located at the Southern end of the Okanagan Valley on the shores of Osoyoos Lake and only 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) north of the Canada/USA border. Osoyoos Lake is one of the warmest and safest fresh water lakes in Canada. Residents and visitors enjoy an average summer water temperature of 24°C (75°F) along with many miles of clean, sandy beaches. The population of the Town of Osoyoos is 4,500 and the Town and rural area total approximately 6,300 people. Our semi-arid climate produces very hot, dry days in the summer, making the area ideal for our main industries: fruit farming, vineyards, wineries, and tourism. The annual average precipitation is 20-25 cm (8-10 inches). The appealing variety of scenic attractions such as alpine meadows, grasslands, desert plateaus, fish-stocked mountain lakes, and warm valley lakes, are most conducive to out of doors activities and a healthy life-style.
We consider Osoyoos to be the Jewel of the Okanagan! |
